Project Scope

Nathan “Nearest” Green is a legend around Lynchburg, a small town in Tennessee home to Jack Daniel’s Distillery. The story of the former slave who taught Jack Daniel how to make Tennessee whiskey has been passed down for generations. MP&F was charged with telling Green’s story beyond Lynchburg and with spreading the word about a new whiskey named after him, Uncle Nearest Premium Whiskey.

Solution

Our goal was simple: Tell Green’s story through national and Tennessee-based media and whiskey writers and enthusiasts around the country.

Results

Uncle Nearest Premium Whiskey was featured in renowned national media outlets, including the New York Times, NPR’s All Things Considered and CBS This Morning, as well as in media across Tennessee. Whiskey media loved and widely covered the story. One of the top whiskey writers in the country, Fred Minnick, called it “Probably the best story behind a whiskey. Ever.”
