Tom Cocke started at MP&F after a long career at traditional ad agencies in Atlanta, Charlotte and Nashville. He’s an unlikely writer because he prefers a visual solution all day long. Maybe that’s why he works so well with all the talented designers, art directors and PR pros at MP&F. Oh, he’ll write copy. But he loves nothing more than a quick headline that grabs you first.
Originally from Sewanee, Tenn. (the town, not the college), Tom had to get away from small-town life and go to Washington & Lee University in the metropolis of Lexington, V. After college, ad school in Atlanta beckoned. Post-Portfolio Center, Tom did a tour of Atlanta shops including TracyLocke and BBDO. Other stops were Wray Ward, Charlotte and The Buntin Group, Nashville. Along the way, he’s been noticed by The One Show, Communication Arts, Clios, OBIEs, EMMYs, Jay Chiat Awards and ADDYs. A three-time Nashville Copywriter of the Year, he’s also judged the EFFIEs, National ADDYs and many other local shows.
In his spare time, Tom collects mid-century furniture and works on a short film about Route 66. His greatest creations, though, are two adult children who often remind him of exactly that.
