Chinn Becomes Seventh Partner in 35-Year-Old Agency

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Aug. 8, 2022) – Nashville native and business and community leader Kate Sherrard Chinn has joined MP&F Strategic Communications as a partner, it was announced today.

Chinn most recently served as vice president and head of community and civic engagement at AllianceBernstein, a post she held for nearly four years. In this role, she was instrumental in establishing the firm’s local presence and corporate social responsibility strategy through the transition from New York to Nashville, including corporate philanthropy, community disaster response, volunteerism and employee engagement. In 2021, Chinn scaled this strategy globally for the asset management firm, forming similar community engagement programs in Asia, Europe and New York based on the Nashville model.

Prior to joining AllianceBernstein, she served as senior vice president at the Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce, where her primary responsibilities included revenue generation and strategic planning efforts for Nashville’s economic development campaign, Partnership 2020.

Chinn spent more than 15 years in New York City in various creative marketing and communications roles, notably serving as senior director of marketing for Tishman Speyer from 2007 to 2015, where she led the brand positioning, marketing, advertising and creative efforts for iconic brands including Rockefeller Center, the Rainbow Room and Top of the Rock Observation Deck. Earlier in her career, she was an interior designer and project manager for Peter Marino Architect and held marketing and sales roles for several digital and consumer publications, including iVillage, Rodale and Wenner Media.

“Kate has had a significant presence in this community since returning to Nashville in 2015,” said Jennifer Brantley, MP&F managing partner. “She has been active in business and civic circles and is well respected by everyone. We are excited to have her join MP&F as she brings close to 20 years of marketing, advertising, creative and community engagement expertise to our team.”

Other partners in the agency include Brantley, David Fox, Katy Varney, Keith Miles, Mary Elizabeth Davis and Knight Stivender.

“I am honored to join this esteemed firm with such outstanding partners and staff, and I am excited to return to an industry I know well from my time in New York City,” Chinn said. “This role will allow me to use all my combined professional experiences in both marketing and communications as well as community engagement as part of MP&F’s leadership team.”

Chinn currently serves on the boards of the United Way of Greater Nashville, the Nashville Public Education Foundation and Harpeth Hall School. Previously, she served on the boards of the YMCA of Middle Tennessee and The Land Trust for Tennessee. She is a graduate of the Leadership Nashville class of 2022 and is serving as program co-chair for the 2022–23 class.

Chinn graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill in 1997, where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in English. She resides in Nashville with her husband, Matt, and three children.
