Layne Smith, a Petal, Miss., native, graduated from Mississippi State University in May 2017 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in graphic design. While in school, Smith interned at the MSU Social Science Research Center, where he designed visuals to help inform the Mississippi state legislature about statewide issues. He also served as the vice president of the AIGA student chapter while in school, and after graduation he worked as the in-house designer for Pearl River Resort. While at the resort, Smith designed logos, business cards, billboards, ads, brochures, social media posts, posters, postcards and signage. His creativity and talents led him to become the sole designer for the 2018 Choctaw Indian Fair. Since joining MP&F, he has worked on projects for Integral Senior Living, the U.S. Department of Labor’s Job Corps program and the Nashville Public Education Foundation.
