MP&F Public Relations Welcomes Fall Interns

Fall Interns MP&F Public Relations has hired six interns for the fall 2016 semester. The firm’s internship program attracts top university students and graduates who are looking to gain valuable experience in the industry.

“Our new interns are a talented group who arrived with energy and enthusiasm,” said Katy Varney, MP&F partner. “We look forward to helping them develop as young public relations professionals and make contributions to our client services team.”

The fall 2016 interns are:

  • Mary Marshall Anderson (Nashville, Tenn.; Vanderbilt University)
  • Alyssa Furth (Cleveland, Ohio; Vanderbilt University)
  • Kelsey Hutchison (Brentwood, Tenn.; Belmont University)
  • Bailee Jordan (Athens, Ga.; Georgia Southern University)
  • Rachel Novak (Marietta, Ga.; Belmont University)
  • Greer Shellow (Los Angeles, Calif.; Vanderbilt University)

Mary Marshall Anderson is a senior at Vanderbilt University where she is a double major in political science and human and organizational development. Most recently, Anderson interned with AlphaSights, an information services firm in New York City. During the summer of 2015, she was an intern at The Livingston Group, a government relations firm in Washington, D.C. On campus, she serves as the co-chair of Vanderbilt Alternative Spring Break, the activities and events chair of the Senior Class Fund, and the head Gamma Chi of Diversity and Inclusion for Vanderbilt’s Panhellenic community.

Alyssa Furth, a senior at Vanderbilt University, is majoring in human and organizational development. She has held a part-time internship in the communications department at HealthStream, Inc. for the last two years where she assisted in the development of the company’s new Intranet and contributed to the quarterly newsletter. Furth also interned at Strategy Design Partners in Cleveland, Ohio, where she helped clients with strategic communication plans. Outside of work, she tutors students at the Afterschool Program, working with students from under-resourced schools in north Nashville.

Kelsey Hutchison graduated from Belmont University in May 2015 with a degree in public relations. Fluent in Spanish, she most recently worked for six months under the Spanish Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport as a North American language and culture assistant in Zaragoza, Spain. Previously, she served as digital media intern at MTN in Nashville, where she assisted partners in advising clients, developed a social media campaign for Live on the Green music festival, and acted as a content editor for MTN’s website homepage.

Bailee Jordan is a Georgia native and recent graduate from Georgia Southern University. She interned at Mandy Edwards Marketing Services in Statesboro, Georgia, helping clients monitor social media engagement, and at Georgia Southern Center for Sustainability, where she coordinated events, managed the company’s website and social media accounts, and generated public service announcements. She has also worked as a publicity assistant with CWPR in Atlanta. At school, Bailee was an active member of Kappa Delta Sorority and served as vice president of public relations.

Rachel Novak is a public relations student and senior at Belmont University. Novak interned at Pineapple Public Relations, an Atlanta-based agency specializing in travel, where she wrote press releases and blog posts. At Belmont, Novak was a journalist for the student-run newspaper, The Belmont Vision, where she wrote feature and hard news stories. For the 2016-2017 school year, she is an account leader for Belmont’s student-run public relations firm, Tower Creative.

Greer Shellow attends Vanderbilt University as a senior studying human and organizational development and Spanish. She previously interned for Calvert Street Group, working on public affairs and grassroots efforts, and at Tory Burch, a New York City-based fashion label, where she worked on the company’s blog, social media accounts, and marketing campaigns. On campus, Shellow is an active member of Kappa Kappa Gamma and serves as Vice President of Standards.
