University of Tennessee graduate Aya Harasawa has joined MP&F Public Relations as the agency’s 2016 Diversity Fellow.

The MP&F Diversity Fellowship Program is designed to prepare participants from diverse backgrounds for careers in public relations. Fellows will participate in MP&F’s mentorship and professional development programs, while gaining work experience in areas such as research, media relations, project management and digital communication. The highly competitive program allows fellows to learn and explore public relations activities at MP&F for up to six months.

Harasawa, a Nashville native, graduated from the University of Tennessee in May with a Bachelor of Science degree in communication and information. She majored in public relations and minored in business administration. While at UT, Harasawa was an active member of Delta Zeta Sorority, where she served on the executive board as the social and risk management executive. During the fall of 2015, she gained experience in writing, social media and media relations during her internship with the Metropolitan Drug Coalition in Knoxville.

“MP&F values diversity and inclusion, and this program helps us recruit top talent to MP&F,” said Alice Chapman, MP&F partner. “The fellowship program provides valuable work experience to entry-level public relations professionals. We are excited about Aya’s experience and qualifications and the good work she will produce for our clients.”
