Roberts served as McNeely Pigott & Fox’s office manager and proofreader from 1991 to 2006. Now solely proofreader, she is responsible for proofreading all written communications. A native of Houston, she attended the University of Houston, and also has experience in banking and mortgage lending.

Shirley, a veteran journalist who joined McNeely Pigott & Fox in 1996, is in charge of quality control for the firm’s writing, serving as a frontline copy editor, writing coach and message development strategist. In addition, Shirley handles writing and media relations for special projects and serves as the firm’s point person for public opinion and market surveys. He has written, coordinated and analyzed more than 50 local, regional and statewide surveys for clients ranging from hospitals, banks and chambers of commerce to grassroots organizations and business coalitions.

Prior to joining MP&F, Shirley was editor of the Nashville Business Journal, a weekly business publication. He began his journalism career as a reporter at the Bristol (Va.-Tenn.) Herald Courier, where he later served as news editor and political writer. In 1982, he went to work as a reporter and copy editor for the Nashville Banner and later was an assistant city editor. Before moving to Nashville, Shirley served as press secretary for the successful campaign of former U.S. Rep. Rick Boucher in Virginia’s 9th District.

In 1996, Shirley was media coordinator for the Yes for Nashville referendum campaign, which succeeded in gaining approval for construction of the city’s NFL stadium and the relocation of the Titans franchise from Houston.

A native of Fort Payne, Ala., Shirley graduated in 1977 from Emory & Henry College in Emory, Va., where he received an interdisciplinary degree in communications, political science and English.
