Marine Week Slips Into Nashville With Overnight Equipment Arrival, Sept. 6

By MP&F Staff

Marine Week 2016On Tuesday, Sept. 6, during the early-morning hours, United States Marine Corps vehicles and equipment are scheduled to start arriving from Joint Base Berry to downtown Nashville. The military vehicles and equipment will be used as static displays and will be set up downtown at Riverfront Park.

The arrival of this equipment is not a public event. The USMC will capture video and photos of the vehicles as they enter downtown, and will share with the media. The media are invited to witness the arrival of aircraft that will land at Ascend Amphitheater between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 6.

In addition, the media are invited to a VIP Walk-Through on Tuesday at 5 p.m., at the Court of Flags at First Avenue and Broadway. This is an opportunity to take a tour of the static displays, meet the Marine leadership and gather content before the kickoff of Marine Week Nashville.

Tuesday is the soft opening for a few Marine Week events. Marine Week Nashville will formally commence with an opening ceremony on Wednesday, Sept. 7, at 6 p.m. in Public Square Park.

Tuesday’s events include:

  • Marine Art Project, 8 a.m.–5 p.m., at Douglas Corner Café (five Marines begin painting a mural, to be unveiled Saturday, Sept. 10, at 2106 Eighth Ave. S.)
  • Silent Drill Platoon Performance, 9:45 a.m., at Gallatin High School
  • Additional School Visits, 8 a.m.–5m., at various locations
  • VIP Walk-Through (media only), 5 p.m., at Court of Flags
